Toronto headshot photography prices vary significantly. Based on a benchmarking review of 24 studios and photographers in the Toronto area, here is what the market currently looks like:
Budget studios (no coaching, basic setup): $65–$149 for entry-level packages. These are typically high-volume operations with minimal direction.
Mid-market studios (professional equipment, standard direction): $150–$350 for 30–60 minute sessions. This is where most Toronto photographers operate.
Premium studios (experienced photographers, skilled direction, high-end post-production): $350–$1,000+ depending on session length and deliverables. Robert Lowdon Photography, for example, starts at $300 and goes to $1,000+ for full editorial work. Lindsey Macdonald Photography charges $499–$699.

Option 1 — The Introduction: $225 ■ 30 min ■ 1 lighting setup ■ 1 retouched image. Ideal for: LinkedIn updates, corporate directory photos, press headshots.
Option 2 — The Professional: $415 ■ 1 hour ■ 2 lighting setups ■ 2 retouched images. Ideal for: business professionals, budget-conscious actors who need variety.
Option 3 — The Artist: $540 ■ 2 hours ■ 3+ lighting setups ■ 3 retouched images. Ideal for: actors building their portfolio, personal branding.
Option 4 — The Editorial Half Day: $825 ■ 4 hours ■ multiple setups ■ 6 retouched images. Ideal for: actors, entrepreneurs, creatives needing a full suite of images.
Additional retouched images: $50 each. Hair & Makeup (external): +$65 studio fee for Options 1 & 2.
What Affects the Price?
Session length is the primary driver — longer sessions allow more setups, more looks, and more selection. Deliverables matter — the number of fully retouched images you receive is a major cost component. Photographer experience is a significant factor. At Portraits.To, you're working with a photographer who is also a working TV and film actor — which changes the quality of direction you receive. Retouching quality varies enormously between studios — confirm what's included.
Are Cheap Headshots Worth It?
For casual LinkedIn use, a budget session may be adequate. For actors submitting to agencies, or executives representing themselves on company websites, the quality of direction during the session is far more important than any equipment consideration. A great headshot requires the photographer to coach you — not just click a shutter.
